2020 marks not only the 21st birthday of RIFT as a company, but also the 5th anniversary of our partnership with ABF: The Soldiers' Charity. As a Silver-tier signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, working our way toward Gold, it's our honour to commit to supporting the welfare of the UK's military community. Our work with ABF is an enormous part of that.

The Soldiers' Charity has been supporting Armed Forces veterans since 1944, putting vital support within reach for thousands of MOD families dealing with hardship or bereavement. To date, our contributions to the charity total £255,923.28, with our regular annual donations now coming to £38,000. Those donations, though, are only the start of our partnership. We also do everything we can to promote the charity's work and campaigns, including hosting our own Big Curry days and our in-house Military Engagement days.

As a sponsor of the Kent Challenger Games, RIFT was deeply honoured to help build toward the success of this unprecedented scheme. The response from the local community in Ashford to the first games was incredible, with the event representing a terrific opportunity for disabled and disengaged children to look past the challenges they face and celebrate both their current accomplishments and future potential.

The Kent Challenger Games are part of the Ashford Military Covenant, which continues to promote awareness of the sacrifices made by serving and former Armed Forces personnel. All told, over 50 schools signed up for the first Challenger Games, giving over 500 disabled, disadvantaged and special needs children the chance to see themselves in a much stronger and more positive light.

Military veterans often struggle with life after leaving the Armed Forces, and RIFT continues to do its part to clear the obstacles from their path. As part of the Royal British Legion Industries centenary celebrations, our Chairman Jan Post was delighted to attend their event, “In Conversation with General Sir Gordon Messenger KCB DSO OBE ADC”, and to visit their Centenary Village.

The village grew out of RBLI's commitment to support Armed forces veterans and their families in times of need. To mark the charity's 100th year in operation, the village now offers fully adapted homes with access to healthcare and employment services. The goal is to throw down the barriers that keep so many veterans in social isolation without employment prospects or personal independence.

Along with 100 other businesses, RIFT donated £1,500 to RBLI to find a LifeWorks course place for a struggling Armed Forces veteran transitioning into civilian work. Lifeworks is an immensely valuable programme, offering real-world support on everything from employability to resettlement. With an impressive 83% success rate in getting veterans into work, we believe it's an initiative that's well worth investing in.
