What's a 64-8 Form?
A 64-8 form is a legal document that appoints someone else to deal with HMRC on your behalf. This person then becomes your "agent", and can handle things like tax rebates and self assessment tax returns for you. Simply download the 64-8 form if you have misplaced yours.
In other words, 64-8 is the piece of paper that lets RIFT take on the stress and hassle of tackling the taxman for you. It's the key to getting your tax rebate paid out, so get it filled in as soon as possible.
Why do you need it?
Simple question, simple answer. Without form 64-8, the taxman won't even talk to us about you. If we can't get HMRC to treat us as your agent, you'll be on your own when it comes to scoring your tax refund or talking to them about any problems, enquiries or changes to your tax code.
How does RIFT use it?
All we need the form for is to prove that we're your agent - and we only need to do that once when you sign up with us. As soon as HMRC sees the form, they'll start working with us to process your refunds from then on. When the next year rolls around, you won't need to send the form again. We'll still be our agent, so there's no extra stress or paperwork.
We have to be able to show them a hardcopy with an actual physical signature on it, that's just the rules.
